STAFF ENGINEER/ARCHITECT (.NET/JAVA)

ABOUT THE ROLE
We are searching for a highly experienced Staff Engineer / Software Architect who will play a critical role in shaping and delivering complex, scalable, and future-ready digital platforms for an outsourcing company headquartered in Cluj-Napoca and point of contact in close-to-client locations in the UK and US.
In this position, you will lead the design, architecture, and evolution of enterprise-grade systems, while guiding engineering teams toward excellence in execution and innovation.

We are looking for individuals who combine strategic thinking with deep technical expertise across modern stacks (Java, .NET, or others) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead the architecture, design, and development of large-scale, cloud-native, and AI-enabled applications;
Define and drive system architecture across fullstack environments (backend, frontend, data, and integrations);
Design and implement scalable and secure APIs, microservices, and distributed systems;
Guide teams in building solutions using modern technologies (Java, .NET, or similar) and frameworks;
Architect and oversee cloud infrastructure and services (AWS, Azure, or GCP);
Integrate AI/ML capabilities into products where applicable, ensuring practical and scalable implementations;
Ensure best practices in performance, scalability, observability, reliability, and security across all systems;
Drive adoption of event-driven architectures, asynchronous processing, and modern data pipelines;
Lead technical decision-making, architecture reviews, and engineering governance;
Mentor senior and mid-level engineers, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement;
Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders including Product, DevOps, and Business teams;
Handle multiple high-impact initiatives in a fast-paced, enterprise environment.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience;
8+ years of professional software development experience, with strong architectural exposure;
Proven experience as a Staff Engineer, Principal Engineer, or Software Architect;
Strong background in backend and full stack development (Java, .NET, or similar ecosystems);
Solid experience designing distributed systems, microservices, and cloud-native architectures;
Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP);
Understanding and practical exposure to AI/ML concepts and integrations;
Strong knowledge of system design, scalability patterns, and performance optimization;
Experience with databases (SQL and NoSQL) and data architecture;
Familiarity with DevOps practices (CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, Infrastructure as Code);
Strong understanding of frontend technologies (JavaScript, TypeScript, modern frameworks);
Excellent problem-solving, analytical thinking, and decision-making skills;
Strong leadership, mentoring, and communication abilities;
Passion for innovation, emerging technologies, and building high-impact systems;
Positive mindset and ownership-driven attitude.
